Violet Mitchell
Violet Lee Mitchell, 87, of Maryville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 28, 2022.
At her request, no service will be held.
Violet was born on March 1, 1935, to Fred and Daisy Wetmore in Maryville. She attended Maryville High School.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Audley, her son Dennis, in-laws Fred and Ada Mitchell, and sister Juanita (Dee) Lewis.
Violet is survived by her sons Jim (Evelyn) and Ray (Joyce) of Maryville; grandchildren Diane, Jamie, Jennifer, Amanda, Liana, Katherine, Cassandra, Abigail, and Alexander; great-grandchildren Amber, Tristen, Violet, Taylor, Riker, Garrett, Madelyn, Mitchell, Mya, Lierin, Kellen, Rory, Kiernan, James, Charlie, Savannah, Moses, Emma, Miles, Isaac, and Ava; great-great grandchild Barrett; and her sister, Marlene (Richard) Yarn of Florida.
She was proud of the fact that as a young person, she had a bicycle paper route delivering the Maryville-Alcoa Daily Times. Later in life, after moving to the farm with her husband and sons, she continued to work industriously to take care of her family ― canning, preserving, and cooking great meals. She enjoyed family gatherings especially during the holidays. She truly enjoyed the beauty found outdoors.
As Violet had a passion for reading, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Friends of the Blount County Library.
The family expresses gratitude to granddaughter Diane (Stephen) Lucas and family for relocating to the farm to help take care of Violet in the twilight of her life. Also, a special thanks to the Amedisys Hospice team for their assistance and compassion at the conclusion of Violet’s life.
