Michael Hebenstreit
Michael Hebenstreit, 74, our beloved father and friend passed away unexpectedly on Thursday January 21, 2016 at his home in Norris, TN. He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on April 26, 1941 to the late Bernard and Pearl Hebenstreit.
He is survived by his wife Terry Hebenstreit, their son Geoffrey Hebenstreit of Knoxville, his wife Stephanie and son Dylan. Judi Hebenstreit and their three children; James Hebenstreit of Knoxville, and his three children, Evan, Julie and Javier. Heidi Gerding of Colorado, and her two children; Emily and Lucas. Paul Hebenstreit and wife Rene’ of Lenoir City, and their two children; Natalie and Erich. He had three great grandchildren, William and twins Graham and Alek, sons of Evan and Taylor Hebenstreit. His life long best friend, Don Knight and Godchild Lisa Holohan Roehrl, of Germany.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marlene Holohan, his son Joshua Hebenstreit, and half brother Daniel Hebenstreit.
In his retirement, he enjoyed doing odd jobs, lending a helping hand to anyone in need, singing in the church choir and fishing off the dock with his grandchildren. He was very tech savvy and was the one everyone went to for help with computer problems. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, skiing, ice skating and placing the occasional bet on his favorite teams. Also, pursuing his life long dream of sailing the open seas.
He served his country as an intelligence agent for the U.S. Air Force. He was a long time member of Saint Teresa Catholic Church in Clinton, TN. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Norris, Tn on Saturday February 6, 2016. Receiving of friends at 2:00 pm, followed by a celebration of life service at 2:30, with a social afterward in the rectory.
