Jerry Harbison Jr.
This is Jerry Harbison. Some called him ‘Bug’ or, ‘June Bug’. Others called him ‘dad’, ‘son’, and ‘brother’. One thing that every person who met him could agree on though, is that he was one hell of a drummer. He lived a simple life. When he didn’t have a penny to his name, he’d turn around, find a nickel on the ground, and give it to anyone who needed it. The possessions he had came and went, but one thing that he kept through his life was a small box. In that box, were the things that were most important to him: Report cards from his children, school pictures, pictures of his family, and many manuals to numerous electronics… because he was the definition of a handy man.
He was a plumber, a carpenter, and a self-proclaimed tinkerer of anything he could pull apart and put back together. He loved his children, and shared the knowledge he had with them as a way to show that love. Whether he was showing boxing moves to his daughter, as he relived his own experience as a Golden Glove Boxer, or taking his son underneath the hood to fix a knocking in his car, he was a man who believed in hard-work and being self-sufficient.
He was most happy when his hands were busy, and that’s why he loved the drums from such a young age. At 16, he fell in love with his passion for music, and the rest was history. When he passed, he was found in front of his first love, his drum set. His family is devastated by his passing and because he didn’t have life insurance, his children now must plan and pay for his Celebration of Life and other expenses. Although, it is devastating to lose a father, they want to make sure that he gets the true rock and roll sendoff that he deserves.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations on the GoFundMe page.

For the Celebration of Life, we will have a potluck supper, and everyone should feel free to bring a dish. Since Bug was a musician, we also encourage everyone to play music at the event, so please bring instruments. If there is anything you would like to say, or stories to share about him, we encourage any of his family to prepare that, since we will provide an opportunity for everyone to speak about him.
